From anxiety and depression to binge eating and obsessive compulsive disorder, ADHD rarely operates alone. Our Mentavi Smart Assessment screens for common comorbidities.
Nearly 50% of adults with ADHD also have anxiety. Not only do symptoms overlap and co-occur, but each condition can exacerbate the other – ADHD symptoms can interfere with functioning and lead to increased anxiety, which can make ADHD symptoms more difficult to manage.
People with ADHD are four times more likely to develop depression than those without. Symptoms that overlap both conditions include lack of focus, feeling overwhelmed, frequent distraction, poor memory, and an overall feeling of being stuck.
About 30% of adults with ADHD also have disordered eating, with binge eating disorder as the most common. Binge eating disorder is characterized as recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food over a short period of time without any compensatory behavior to undo the binge.
While more research needs to be done, recent studies show that people with ADHD are more at risk for problematic social media use. The Bergen Social Media Addiction scale assesses at-risk social media addiction on a six-point scale to measure an individual’s dependence on social media platforms.
While loneliness is not currently a diagnosable mental health condition, it can affect both your mental and physical health. Each person’s experience of loneliness is different but we screen for it to provide you with the additional insight that can help personalize your treatment.
