My most productive interactions with patients or their parents tends to be those where the patient/parent does most of the talking in regards to the issues they are facing and the concerns that they have. I can then focus in on certain areas that the patient/parent has touched upon to “”round out”” the chief complaint(s) and the appropriate history. With my adult patients I always welcome input from significant others.
Once armed with the facts, I can then proceed to discuss various treatment options, advising of the pro and cons of each. I want to ensure that my patient/parent makes a knowledgeable informed decision regarding the plan for treatment and follow-up.
Having trained as a developmental & behavioral pediatrician I have over 30 years experience in diagnosing and treating patients with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) along with related comorbid disorders. Early in my career I started off dealing only with the pediatric age group, but over the years my pediatric patients with these disorders grew into adults and my practice now encompasses patients of all ages.
I have worked in Connecticut and Florida though I am also licensed in Illinois, New York, and Tennessee.
I have been the Chairman of Pediatrics at two hospitals in Connecticut as well as the founder of the largest ADHD specific practice in Connecticut.
BS – Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA; MD – Loyola University, Chicago, IL; Internship & Residency – University of Connecticut, Farmington, CT
For the past 30 years I have been fortunate enough to be able to provide diagnostic assessments and treatment for patients with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their related comorbid conditions. During the COVID pandemic, I started to provide these services via telehealth and I found this method of delivery of patient care to be both very effective and well received by patients, eliminating the need to for the patient (or parent) to travel to an office and take time off from work or school.
These terms refer to certain approaches to treat diagnosed ADHD. Mentavi Health / ADHD Online may provide stimulant approaches (certain medications under medical treatment that are generally considered Class II controlled substances) or non-stimulant approaches (medications generally not considered Class II, and/or therapy and coaching not related to medication).
A diagnosis and initial conversation with our treatment clinicians is key to the best path for you. The diagnosis is a key first step to determine if you have ADHD or other related conditions. Approximately 60% of patients with ADHD have co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression, for example. At the same time, patients who believe they have ADHD may not even have it. For those who do, there can be a variety of considerations into what kind of treatment works best to meet the patient where they’re at.
If you are not feeling right, your journey starts with the first step of diagnostic evaluation.
