My approach is dedicated to providing a welcoming, secure, open, and accepting environment where people feel acknowledged, heard, and understood. I adopt a collaborative and strengths-based approach to assessment, considering each person within the context of their individual story, development, and surroundings. I approach concerns with curiosity and compassion, aiming to deliver clear, personalized insights that can guide support at home, school, and within the community and emphasis the critical roll that belonging, justice, and variety play in our world
I have had the privilege of working in a diverse array of clinical settings, including community mental health, correctional, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment programs, and university counseling centers. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the variety of factors which influence mental health across the spectrum. I have engaged with individuals and families dealing with acute crises, chronic mental health conditions, trauma, and systemic barriers to care, bringing this broad, real-world perspective to each assessment and therapeutic encounter. Prior roles have been focused on multi-disciplinary treatment delivery emphasizing the whole person. I have been a licensed psychologist for almost six years and have worked in the mental health field for 14 years. During this time I have held leadership positions managing a multi-disciplinary team as well as independent work.
I hold a Masters and Doctorate (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. I earned my Bachelors degree from the University of Utah with a major in Psychology and a minor in Political Science.
I believe that accurate diagnosis is critical for helping a person to understand their strengths and challenges, as well as to guide future treatment.
My doctoral dissertation looked at the ways in which media portrayals of mental health conditions lead to stigmatizing and negative ideas. Helping people to acknowledge their individual challenges while celebrating their uniqueness and strengths helps me to assist my patients in living their best life.
Tele-mental health care plays a vital role in removing barriers that have prevented people from accessing diagnosis, treatment, and understanding about themselves. The more a person can know about themselves, the better their quality of life will be.
